This Trade Up package pairs the Ericsson Cradlepoint R980 ruggedized 5G router with a 6-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials plan. The R980 has a 5G NR SA/NSA modem with Cat 19 LTE fallback and support for 5G network slicing. It also offers dual 4FF SIM slots, embedded eSIM hardware, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and two GbE ports. The Ericsson Cradlepoint R980 is a compact, ruggedized 5G router and security appliance. It is built for vehicles, critical communications and IoT deployments that need 5G speed in harsh or hazardous environments. This SKU (Cradlepoint TU-MB06-R980-5GD-A, Getac 590GBL001675) is a Cradlepoint Trade Up package. It combines the R980 with 6 years of NetCloud Mobile Essentials for the U.S., Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The router ships without an AC power supply or antennas.

The embedded 5G modem is 3GPP Release 16. It covers 600 MHz to 6 GHz on both standalone and non-standalone networks, with LTE Advanced Pro Cat 19 fallback. Peak rates reach 3.4 Gbps down and 550 Mbps up on NSA. The modem supports up to four network slicing instances, so you can isolate and prioritize traffic. Dual 4FF SIM slots sit alongside MFF2 eSIM hardware that holds up to eight carrier profiles. Over-the-air eSIM carrier switching will be functional in future NetCloud OS releases. Carrier certifications include AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Public safety certifications include FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile T-Priority and Verizon Frontline Network Slice.

Local connectivity includes two LAN/WAN-switchable GbE ports, 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and a screw-lock USB port. Active GNSS covers GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou. Firewall and IPS throughput is rated at 940 Mbps, and a dual-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containers. The chassis weighs 601 g and runs on 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing. It meets IP64, MIL-STD-810H shock and vibration, SAE J1455, NFPA 130 and Class I Div 2 requirements.
