Overview

The Inseego Wavemaker FX4200 is an indoor 5G cellular router for businesses that need fast primary broadband or dependable failover. Built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing FWA Gen 3 Platform, it supports 5G SA/NSA with up to 7.5 Gbps down and 3 Gbps up, Wi-Fi 7 mesh for up to 256 devices, dual SIM carrier failover, a rechargeable battery backup and zero-touch deployment with Inseego Connect cloud management.

The Inseego Wavemaker FX4200 is a 5G fixed wireless router designed for fast rollouts across branches, retail and hybrid-work locations. Powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing FWA Gen 3 Platform and a quad-core processor, it supports 5G NR sub-6 GHz in SA and NSA modes with 3x downlink and 2x uplink carrier aggregation and 4x4 MIMO, rated up to 7.5 Gbps down and 3 Gbps up. LTE Cat 20 with 4x4 MIMO provides fallback, and the router is certified for T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T.

Uptime is the focus. Dual nano SIM slots with automated WAN failover and failback switch between carriers, WAN prioritization manages wired and cellular links, and a rechargeable Li-ion battery keeps the network running through power outages. Six internal WWAN antennas work out of the box, while four SMA ports accept full-spectrum external antennas (0.6-6 GHz). Wired connectivity includes two 2.5 GbE and two 1 GbE RJ45 ports plus USB-C data.

Simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi 7 with 2x2 MU-MIMO and full-power 30 dBm output supports up to 256 devices, with primary and guest networks, WPA2/3 personal and enterprise, and wired or wireless mesh expansion using the optional Inseego Wavemaker Mesh Wi-Fi X700. A built-in display shows live signal, Wi-Fi and cellular status to guide placement during setup.

For IT teams, Inseego Connect and the Inseego Mobile app provide zero-touch deployment, automatic carrier selection, firmware scheduling, remote diagnostics, alerts, GPS map location and API integration. Security features include FIPS 140-3 OpenSSL, secure boot, IPsec VPN and OpenVPN, network slicing, IPv6 with XLAT and encrypted configuration backup. The unit measures 8.3 x 5.5 x 2.1 in and operates from 32 °F to 104 °F. A datasheet, user guide and quick start guide are available from Inseego. A data plan is required.
