Overview

The Cisco ISR C1161X-8PLTEP is a compact 1000 Series Integrated Services Router for small branches and remote offices. It combines eight Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, a Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, a Gigabit Ethernet copper/SFP combo port and one pluggable cellular module slot for Cisco LTE pluggables. The "X" model carries 8 GB DRAM and 8 GB flash for app hosting and SD-WAN Advanced Security. It runs Cisco IOS XE or IOS XE SD-WAN and delivers up to 825 Mbps of single-tunnel IMIX encrypted throughput.

The Cisco ISR C1161X-8PLTEP belongs to the Cisco 116x family, the highest-performing group in the ISR 1000 Series. It is built for small branches, retail stores, clinics and remote offices that need enterprise routing, switching and security in a small footprint. The chassis provides eight integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, one copper Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and one Gigabit Ethernet combo port that accepts copper or an SFP transceiver, so fiber and copper circuits can terminate on the same box.

Cellular WAN is added through one pluggable interface module slot. Cisco offers its LTE pluggables (CAT4, CAT6, CAT7 and CAT18) as separate part numbers, and the cellular region follows the module selected, for example P-LTEA-EA for North America and Europe or P-LTEAP18-GL for global CAT18 coverage. The pluggable modules add automatic failover between primary and backup links, SMS-initiated data callback, remote firmware upgrade over cellular and dual micro-SIM multihoming on the modules that support it.

The 8 GB DRAM and 8 GB flash configuration supports app hosting and SD-WAN Advanced Security. Cisco rates the platform at up to 850 Mbps SD-WAN IPsec throughput (512B), 200 SD-WAN overlay tunnels, and up to 1900 Mbps IPv4 forwarding in autonomous mode. A Type A USB 3.0 port handles storage, a micro-USB port provides console access, and optional PoE/PoE+ upgrades (4 PoE or 2 PoE+ on the LAN ports, with a 150 W power supply) can power phones, cameras or access points.

Manage the router locally through the WebUI, centrally with Cisco DNA Center in autonomous mode, or with Cisco vManage in SD-WAN controller mode. Licensing is pay-as-you-grow, from IP Base to Application Experience, Security and HSEC tiers.
