Overview

The Lantronix G526GP1CS is the China and India regional version of the G526 industrial IoT cellular gateway from the G520 Series. It combines an LTE Cat 4 modem on bands B1, B3, B5, B8, B40 and B41 with 3G/2G fallback on B1 and B8. Dual SIM holders, two 10/100 Ethernet ports, RS-232/RS-485 serial, CANbus, ignition sensing, I/O and built-in fieldbus protocol conversion let it connect factory equipment and vehicles. It is not the North American variant.

The Lantronix G526GP1CS is the China and India regional version of the G526, the industrial model in the Lantronix G520 Series of rugged IoT cellular gateways. It pairs an LTE Cat 4 modem with the wired and serial interfaces that factory and vehicle equipment still depends on. The modem covers bands B1, B3, B5, B8, B40 and B41, with 3G/2G fallback on B1 and B8. Lantronix publishes this band set for China, India, Indonesia and Thailand. This is not the North American variant, which Lantronix sells as the G526GP1AS.

For equipment connections, the gateway has two 10/100 Ethernet ports. One is a LAN port and the other is a WAN port that can be reassigned as a second LAN. It also provides full RS-232 on a 9-pin sub-D connector, RS-485 through a 5-pin COMBICON header, a USB 2.0 host port, CANbus and ignition sensing. User-configurable I/O can act as analog inputs, 4–20 mA current-loop inputs or digital outputs. Built-in protocol support covers EtherCAT, DLMS client, DNP3 Outstation, Modbus master, IEC 104 slave and IEC 101 master. For local wireless and positioning, it offers 2T2R Wi-Fi 5 (client or access point for about 12 users), Bluetooth/BLE 5.1 and GPS.

Several features keep the link up: • Two SIM holders • Ethernet, cellular and Wi-Fi failover or load balancing • Connectivity and application watchdogs

If power fails, a last-gasp battery gives the unit about 100 seconds to report the outage. The brushed aluminum housing operates from -30 °C to +70 °C on 10.8–60 V DC.

For fleet management, the G526 is Percepxion ready for remote updates, servicing and monitoring. It also works with third-party platforms and TR-069, and developers can build custom packages with the G520 SDK in Python or C/C++. Security includes a zone-based firewall, VLAN, DMZ, HTTPS administration and SIM PIN. VPN options range from IPsec (up to 4 channels) and OpenVPN to WireGuard.

Questions buyers ask

Which regions is the G526GP1CS intended for?

Lantronix lists it as the G526 India, China variant. Its LTE bands (B1, B3, B5, B8, B40, B41) and 3G/2G fallback (B1, B8) match the band set Lantronix publishes for China, India, Indonesia and Thailand. It is not the North American version, which is the G526GP1AS.

Does the G526 support PoE or a hardware secure element?

No. PSE-PoE+ output and the Microchip ATECC608 secure element are features of the G527 and G528 security variants. The G526 is the industrial model focused on Ethernet, serial, I/O and fieldbus conversion.

Which industrial protocols are built in?

The software suite includes EtherCAT, DLMS client, DNP3 Outstation, Modbus master, IEC 104 slave and IEC 101 master.

What happens if power is lost?

Two 96 mWh Li-ion batteries provide an approximately 100-second last gasp, which does not function below -10 °C. A separate real-time clock battery keeps time for up to 100 days.
