Overview

The InHand Networks IR302-FQ33-IO is a compact industrial cellular router for unattended North American IoT sites. Its LTE Cat 1 module covers FDD bands B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26 with WCDMA fallback, and InHand lists it as certified with Verizon and AT&T. Dual-SIM backup, two 10/100 Ethernet ports, an RS232 DTU port and two I/O channels sit in a fanless metal IP30 enclosure. VPN options include IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard and ZeroTier, and the router runs on 9-36 V DC. This configuration does not include Wi-Fi.

The IR302 is InHand Networks' compact industrial router for kiosks, meters, cabinets and other unattended equipment that needs a small, dependable WAN link. This IR302-FQ33-IO configuration uses the FQ33 North American LTE Cat 1 module on FDD bands B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26, with WCDMA B2/B4/B5. It adds two I/O channels and has no Wi-Fi radio. InHand lists the FQ33 as certified with Verizon and AT&T, and FCC, PTCRB and IC certificates are published for it.

Two Nano-SIM drawer slots support dual-SIM backup. Switching can be triggered by ICCID binding, an RSRP signal threshold, packet-loss rate or dial-attempt limits, and VRRP is supported for redundancy. The router provides one WAN/LAN switchable and one LAN 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. The RS232 combo terminal supports DTU transparent transmission in TCP server/client, UDP and MQTT modes, and Ethernet DTU and optional Modbus RTU/TCP conversion are also available.

Security covers a firewall, ACLs, MAC-IP binding (200 entries), content filtering and attack protection. VPN tunnels include IPsec IKEv1/v2 up to AES256/SHA512/ECP521, GRE, L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN, WireGuard and ZeroTier. You can manage the router locally through WebUI, CLI, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and an HTTP/HTTPS API. InHand Device Manager handles batch configuration, firmware upgrades and alarms across distributed fleets, and InConnect Service provides cloud management.

The full-metal, fanless housing measures about 100 × 30 × 100 mm and weighs about 250 g. It mounts on a DIN rail or wall and draws 2-5 W typical from a 9-36 V DC input. It operates from -35 °C to 70 °C, or -40 °C to 75 °C in the extended range, and carries an MTBF of at least 100,000 hours.

Does the IR302-FQ33-IO have Wi-Fi?

No. This configuration has LTE Cat 1, two Ethernet ports, an RS232 terminal and 2 × I/O without a Wi-Fi radio. Wi-Fi is available on the WLAN versions of the IR302.

How do I log in for the first time?

Install the antennas, insert the SIM with power off, then power on. Connect a computer to either Ethernet port (both are LAN by default), set it to DHCP or a 192.168.2.x address, and browse to http://192.168.2.1. Use the credentials printed on the device label.

How do I set the APN?

Log in, go to Network > Cellular and choose your carrier profile under SIM1 Network Provider. For a custom APN, edit it in Profiles and select that profile, then click Apply. A steady Cellular LED means connected, and a blinking LED means it is dialing.

What power does the IR302 need?

It accepts 9-36 V DC (typically 12 V or 24 V) through a 2-pin industrial terminal, with reverse polarity protection. Typical consumption is 2-5 W, with peaks under 10 W.
