Overview

The InHand Networks IR302-FQ33-WLAN-IO is a compact industrial cellular router for unattended IoT sites in North America. It pairs an LTE Cat 1 module certified with Verizon and AT&T with dual Nano-SIM backup, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, two I/O points and an RS232 combo terminal. VPN options include IPsec, OpenVPN and WireGuard. The router runs from 9–36V DC in a fanless metal enclosure rated from -35°C to 70°C, and you can manage it from the InHand Device Manager cloud.

The IR302-FQ33-WLAN-IO is the North America LTE Cat 1 build of InHand Networks' IR302 industrial router. It includes Wi-Fi and I/O. The cellular module covers LTE FDD B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26 with WCDMA B2/B4/B5 fallback, and InHand lists this configuration as certified with Verizon and AT&T. Two Nano-SIM drawers provide carrier backup. The router can switch SIMs on ICCID binding, an RSRP signal threshold or packet loss.

On site, the IR302 provides one 10/100 Mbps WAN/LAN switchable port, one 10/100 Mbps LAN port and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi with a 72 Mbps negotiated rate. It also has an RS232 combo terminal for DTU transparent transmission over TCP, UDP or MQTT, and two I/O points for local signals. Traffic between the site and headquarters can run over IPsec (IKEv1/v2), OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP, GRE, PPTP or ZeroTier. The router also includes a firewall, ACLs, MAC-IP binding, content filtering and VRRP.

The IR302 is built for cabinets and remote enclosures. It has a full metal IP30 fanless housing of about 100 × 30 × 100 mm and weighs about 250 g. It operates from -35°C to 70°C, or from -40°C to 75°C in the extended range. The 9–36V DC terminal input includes reverse polarity and surge protection. The router mounts on a panel or wall, with a DIN rail kit available as an option.

For fleet operations, the InHand Device Manager handles batch configuration, firmware upgrades, status monitoring and alarms. SNMP v1/v2c/v3, a web UI, a CLI, SSH and an HTTP/HTTPS API support local and third-party management. The IR302 datasheet (V1.2) is available.

How do I log in for the first time?

Install the antennas, insert the SIM with the router powered off, then connect power. Connect a computer to a LAN port and set it to DHCP or a 192.168.2.x address. Browse to http://192.168.2.1 and use the credentials printed on the device label.

How do I turn on the Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is disabled by default. In the web GUI, go to Network > Switch WLAN Mode and set the WLAN Type to AP. Then enable Network > WLAN and set the SSID, security type and password.

What power does the IR302 need?

It accepts 9–36V DC (typically 12V or 24V) on a 2-pin industrial terminal. Typical draw is 2–5 W, with a peak below 10 W. Reverse polarity protection is built in.
