Overview

The Cradlepoint R2400 is a ruggedized 5G in-vehicle router for fleets, public safety and field operations. This North America (U.S. and Canada) SKU pairs the R2400 with an embedded 5G FR1 and LTE Category 20 modem and a 1-Year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials Plan. The router offers 5G Stand Alone support, Dual-SIM Dual Standby with dual eSIM, and Wi-Fi 7. It also provides six LAN/WAN switchable Ethernet ports, GNSS with dead reckoning, IP64 protection and a -40 °C to 70 °C operating range. The package does not include an AC power supply or antennas.

The Cradlepoint R2400 is a ruggedized, secure router built for in-vehicle deployments. Its embedded 5G FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 modem reaches peak rates of up to 4.9 Gbps downlink and 900 Mbps uplink. It uses 4x4 downlink MIMO and holds AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications, plus T-Mobile T-Priority for public safety. Dual SIM slots with Dual-SIM Dual Standby give quick carrier failover with visibility into the standby network. Dual eSIM lets you switch carriers without changing physical SIMs. The modular design supports up to five internal and external 5G SA modems for multi-carrier and satellite deployments, and those modems can be upgraded in the field.

Inside the vehicle, a software-defined Wi-Fi 7 radio supports WPA3 and runs either as a single 4x4 radio or as two 2x2 radios. For wired devices, the router has four 2.5 GbE ports and two 1 GbE ports, all LAN/WAN switchable. It also provides USB-C, CAN Bus and 4 GPIO connections. For location, the R2400 combines GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou with dead reckoning and real-time kinematics, which enables up to centimeter-level accuracy. A quad-core ARMv8 CPU with up to 3.8 GB of memory runs Docker containerized applications at the edge.

The chassis is rated IP64 and operates from -40 °C to 70 °C. It meets MIL-STD-810H vibration and shock methods, SAE J1455, E-Mark, NFPA 130 and Class I Div 2 standards. The router accepts 9–36 VDC input and includes ignition sensing and ISO 7637-2 transient protection.

The included 1-Year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials Plan covers NetCloud Manager device management and software updates for the full term. It also includes 24x7 support and a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription stays active. You can add a NetCloud Advanced Plan at any time.
