Overview

The Cisco Meraki MX68CW-HW-NA is the North American model of the MX68CW, an all-in-one branch appliance. It combines a cloud-managed firewall and SD-WAN edge with a built-in Cat 6 LTE modem, 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi and ten GbE LAN ports, two of them PoE+. It is sized for small branches of up to 50 devices. Cisco has designated this model end-of-life.

The Cisco Meraki MX68CW combines a security appliance, SD-WAN router, LTE modem, wireless access point and small PoE+ switch in one desktop or wall-mount unit. It is aimed at small branches, retail stores and remote offices that want the fewest boxes possible. This SKU, MX68CW-HW-NA, is the North America model, and Cisco has designated it end-of-life.

The built-in Cat 6 LTE modem requires a SIM card. It covers FDD-LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12/17, 13 and 29, with two-carrier downlink aggregation up to 40 MHz and HSPA+ fallback. It is PTCRB certified and carrier certified by Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Bring the unit online through a wired WAN port first so it can retrieve the update that enables integrated cellular. The fixed antennas serve both Wi-Fi and LTE and cannot be removed.

Wired connectivity is generous for the class. It has two dedicated GbE WAN ports for dual uplinks, eight GbE LAN ports, and two more GbE LAN ports with PoE+ to power a phone, camera or access point. The 802.11ac Wave 2 radio uses 2x2 MU-MIMO with two spatial streams and a maximum data rate of 1.3 Gbps. Cisco rates the appliance at 700 Mbps stateful firewall throughput and 400 Mbps next-generation firewall throughput. It lists 300 Mbps site-to-site VPN throughput and 400 Mbps maximum VPN throughput.

Security and management follow the Meraki MX platform. That includes a layer 3/7 firewall, content filtering, IDS/IPS, Advanced Malware Protection, 802.1X for wired and wireless clients, Auto VPN SD-WAN, and zero-touch provisioning from the Cisco Meraki dashboard. Support for third-party USB cellular modems on the MX ends on June 30, 2026.
