Overview

The Fortinet FortiExtenderVehicle 211F-AM (FEV-211F-AM) is a rugged 4G LTE router for fleet vehicles and operational technology sites. A Sierra Wireless EM7511 LTE Cat-12 modem with dual-SIM failover delivers up to 600 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up on North American carriers. One GE WAN and four GE LAN ports, 2x2 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi and GPS/GNSS serve in-vehicle equipment. It runs on 7-36V DC vehicle power, is rated IP64 and carries EN 50155 and MIL-STD-810H certifications. The external LTE antenna is sold separately.

The Fortinet FortiExtenderVehicle 211F-AM is a rugged broadband wireless WAN router built for vehicles and operational technology (OT) deployments. It brings the Fortinet Security Fabric to fleet vehicles, remote sites and harsh environments, giving onboard laptops, cameras, telematics and sensors a managed, secured path to the internet and to corporate resources.

Connectivity comes from a single internal Sierra Wireless EM7511 modem: LTE Cat-12 with downlink up to 600 Mbps and uplink up to 150 Mbps, with 3G UMTS/HSPA+ fallback. The -AM model is built for North America carriers and is certified by PTCRB, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, and it is FirstNet Capable (LTE only), with LTE Band 14 in its band list. Dual Micro-SIM (3FF) slots with intelligent failover sit behind a security cover, and the IMEI is printed on the bottom of the enclosure for easy activation. Three SMA connectors (MAIN, AUX, GPS) accept a vehicle LTE antenna, which is sold separately. Two Wi-Fi antennas and one Bluetooth antenna are included.

The compact 1.77 x 5.11 x 7.16 in chassis weighs 2.1 lb and mounts on a wall, in a vehicle or on a desktop. It accepts 7-36V DC from 12V or 24V vehicle battery systems, draws 17.88 W on average, and operates from -40°C to 70°C. It carries IP64 dust and splash protection, EN 50155 Class S1 rolling-stock certification, and MIL-STD-810H and SAE J1455 shock, vibration and humidity ratings.

On the network side it offers five GE RJ45 ports (1 WAN, 4 LAN), 2x2 2.4/5 GHz 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi and a USB 2.0 Type-A port. It is managed from FortiGate and FortiManager, supports L2 tunnel mode via VLAN or CAPWAP and private IP SIMs, and is rated for 120 Mbps IPsec VPN and 90 Mbps VxLAN-over-IPsec LAN extension.
