It pairs the vapor-cooled A20 Pro chip with a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR ProMotion display and a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. Apple rates it for up to 45 hours of video playback, the longest battery life in an iPhone. The iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB Black, Apple part number MJW44LL/A, is the US configuration of Apple's flagship 6.9-inch iPhone. It suits professionals, creators and field teams who need maximum battery life, a pro-grade camera and strong 5G performance in one device. The A20 Pro chip combines a 6-core CPU with 2 super cores and 4 efficiency cores, a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. A next-generation vapor chamber sustains performance under heavy AI and graphics workloads.
The camera system is built around a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4.0. Apple says it gives better low-light photos and video and greater depth of field. It is joined by a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto with 4x tetraprism optics, which together provide a 16x optical-quality zoom range. For video work, the phone offers 4K Dolby Vision recording up to 120 fps, ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2 and Genlock support.
Apple rates battery life at up to 30 hours of typical use and up to 45 hours of video playback. That is up to 6 more hours of video playback than iPhone 17 Pro Max. With a 60W-capable adapter, the phone reaches 50% charge in around 15 minutes. Connectivity includes 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave with 4x4 MIMO, and the Apple N1 chip adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max uses dual eSIM only and does not accept physical SIM cards. Emergency SOS, Messages, Find My and Roadside Assistance all work via satellite. The unibody carries an IP68 rating for up to 6 meters for 30 minutes. The box includes a 1 m USB-C Charge Cable; no power adapter is included.
