Overview

The Lantronix E214 (E214F002S) is the EMEA and Malaysia LTE Cat-1 model of the E210 Series industrial router. It runs on LTE bands B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 and B28 with 3G and 2G fallback. The router combines dual SIM failover with two 10/100 Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi 4, RS-232 serial and two digital I/Os, and adds VPN, fieldbus protocol conversion and Percepxion cloud management. It is a regional variant for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Malaysia, not for North American networks.

The Lantronix E214F002S is the EMEA and Malaysia version of the E210 Series LTE Cat-1 router. It is a compact industrial unit for IoT and enterprise deployments in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Malaysia. Its radio covers LTE Cat-1 bands B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 and B28, with 3G and 2G fallback. US and Canadian buyers should look at the North American E214G variants instead, which are built for AT&T/T-Mobile or Verizon bands.

The router supports dual SIM in single standby, using two mini-SIM trays. Failover or load balancing can be configured across cellular, Ethernet WAN and Wi-Fi, SIM switching can be based on quality of service, and switching conditions can be scripted. Local interfaces are two 10/100 Ethernet ports (one WAN, reconfigurable as a second LAN), 1T1R Wi-Fi 4 as client or access point, a full RS-232 port on a 9-pin sub-D, and two configurable digital I/Os. The optional SC485 Snap Cap adds isolated RS-485.

The Linux-based ePack software provides OpenVPN, IPsec (up to 4 channels), WireGuard, L2TP and GRE, plus a zone-based firewall, VLAN and DMZ. Built-in converters link Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-101/104 devices to each other or to MQTT, Azure and Cumulocity. Custom applications can be built with the G520 SDK in Python or C/C++, and data can be logged to microSD for edge processing. The router can be managed through Lantronix Percepxion, TR-069 or SMS/OTA configuration.

The housing is brushed aluminum, measures 92.5 x 57.2 x 22.5 mm and weighs about 150 g. The router takes 8–32 V DC and operates from -20 °C to +70 °C. Lantronix publishes a product brief, a quick start guide and user guides for the series.

Questions buyers ask

Can I use the E214F002S in the United States?

This is the EMEA and Malaysia variant, with bands B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 and B28. For North America, Lantronix offers the E214G000S (AT&T, T-Mobile) and the E214G001S (Verizon).

What happens when LTE coverage drops?

The radio falls back to 3G and 2G. With two SIMs installed, it can also fail over to the second SIM, Ethernet WAN or Wi-Fi.

Which accessories are designed for the E214?

Lantronix's MF13 bundle for the E214 and E218 includes a KDC44 power cord, A32M0 and A21H0 antennas and a BR551 DIN rail clip. The SC485 Snap Cap adds isolated RS-485, and the P24E0 (Euro plug) and P24E4 (UK/HK plug) 12 V adapters are available.

Does it support custom applications?

Yes. It runs a Linux-based ePack environment, and the G520 SDK lets you build custom packages and firmware images in Python or C/C++.
