Overview

The Cisco Meraki MG41 is a cloud-managed LTE Cat 18 cellular gateway. It converts a cellular signal into an Ethernet handoff for any Meraki or non-Meraki router or firewall. It combines up to 1.2 Gbps / 150 Mbps throughput, dual nano SIM slots with automatic failover, and an IP67-rated housing that mounts on a wall, ceiling or pole. It can be powered over 802.3af PoE, so it can sit where the signal is strongest.

The Cisco Meraki MG41 (MG41-HW) is a cellular gateway for organizations that need a dependable wireless WAN uplink, either as the primary internet connection where wired service is unavailable or as a failover path when the main circuit drops. It takes LTE from a cellular provider and hands it off over Gigabit Ethernet. It works with any routing or switching device, including Meraki MX appliances.

Inside is an embedded Cat 18 LTE-A Pro modem with four internal antennas, 4x4 downlink MIMO and up to five-carrier downlink aggregation (5CA), rated up to 1.2 Gbps down and 150 Mbps up. Two nano (4FF) SIM slots support automatic SIM failover. APN settings and SIM switching are handled from the dashboard or the local status page. The modem covers worldwide LTE bands, including Band 14 for FirstNet, Bands 66 and 71, and CBRS for private LTE. Certified carriers include AT&T, AT&T FirstNet, Verizon and T-Mobile in the US.

Because the MG41 accepts 802.3af PoE as well as 12V DC, you can mount it away from the network closet wherever cellular reception is best. The IP67 housing is rated for -30°C to 50°C and ships with an all-in-one bracket for walls, ceilings or poles. Two GbE ports, one dedicated LAN and one convertible LAN/WAN, let two MX appliances in an HA pair share the same cellular uplink.

Management runs through the Cisco Meraki dashboard. It supports zero-touch provisioning, scheduled firmware updates, remote visibility of IMEI, ICCID, APN, RSRP and RSRQ, alerts, packet capture and an extensive API. Cisco Meraki backs MG41 hardware with a full lifetime warranty and next-day advanced replacement. Enterprise licensing is available in 1-, 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-year terms.
