Overview

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R920 (MAA3-0920-C7A-NA) is a ruggedized, metal-bodied Cat 7 LTE router for vehicles and mobile deployments. It is bundled with a 3-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials + Advanced plan for the U.S. and Canada. The router has dual 4FF SIM slots, 2x2 Wi-Fi 6, two switchable Gigabit Ethernet ports, embedded Bluetooth LE 5.1 and active multi-constellation GNSS. It is IP64 rated and runs on 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing. This hardware configuration ships without an AC power supply or antennas.

The Cradlepoint R920 is Ericsson's compact ruggedized LTE platform for fleets, public safety vehicles and mobile field teams. This North American SKU (U.S. and Canada) pairs the R920 hardware with a 3-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials + Advanced subscription. The subscription covers NetCloud Manager device management, software updates and support for the full term. Essentials support runs 24-hour on weekdays with weekend emergency response by phone, 24x7 on the web and 24x5 by chat. The hardware carries a limited lifetime warranty for as long as an active NetCloud plan is in place.

The embedded Cat 7 LTE modem delivers up to 300 Mbps downlink and 150 Mbps uplink with 2x2 MIMO. It covers North American bands including B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71, plus CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. Carrier certifications include AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The modem also supports FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline public safety networks. Dual SIM slots with SIM-based auto-carrier selection let one unit work across carriers. Adding the RX20 Managed Accessory provides a second LTE or 5G modem and a serial port.

Inside the vehicle, dual-band concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 reaches 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz and supports AP, client and Wi-Fi-as-WAN modes. The router rates 940 Mbps for stateful firewall and IPS. It handles 200 Mbps IPsec VPN throughput, 20 concurrent tunnels and up to 64 VLANs. A dual-core ARMv8 processor runs Docker containers at the edge. Active GNSS tracks GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS, which feeds NetCloud location history and cellular coverage maps.

The 595 g chassis is IP64 rated and operates from -30 °C to 75 °C. It carries E-Mark, SAE J1455, EN 61373 rail, MIL-STD-810G and Class I Div 2 certifications. Power comes from 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing. Plan for antennas and power cabling suited to the installation, because this configuration does not include them.
