Overview

The Ericsson Cradlepoint W1855 is an outdoor, IP67-rated 5G wideband adapter for fixed sites that need primary or failover wireless WAN. This TAA-compliant package (TAA-BE01-1855-5GC-GN) is the U.S. Federal Government ordering option, with North American (U.S. and Canada) hardware configuration. It pairs the adapter with a 1-year NetCloud Branch 5G Adapter Essentials plan. A 3GPP Release 16 modem supports 5G NSA/SA and Cat 19 LTE. The adapter connects over two 2.5 GbE ports, runs on 802.3at PoE+ with an injector included, and ships with four external antennas.

The Cradlepoint W1855 is an outdoor 5G wideband adapter from Ericsson Enterprise Wireless. It is built for buildings and temporary sites that need high-bandwidth wireless WAN when fiber is not an option or when link diversity is required. Mounted outside, it places the modem where the signal is strongest. It connects back to your router or SD-WAN appliance over two 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports that switch between LAN and WAN roles. A single 802.3at PoE+ cable carries both power and data, and a PoE injector is included.

The embedded 3GPP Release 16 modem covers low- and mid-band 5G FR1 in NSA and SA modes. It falls back to Category 19 LTE and supports dual connectivity, meaning simultaneous 5G and LTE links. Rated peak rates reach 3.4 Gbps downlink in NSA mode, with 4x4 MIMO, 256 QAM and dual 4FF SIM slots. Throughput is rated at 2.0 Gbps in IP passthrough, standard NAT and captive modem modes. The modem holds AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications and FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified public safety certifications. It also supports private LTE, including CBRS Band 48.

The enclosure is metal and rated IP67, with salt-mist corrosion resistance, a 135 MPH sustained wind rating and ITU-T K.21 lightning protection. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. Four N-type external antennas covering 600 MHz to 6 GHz are included.

This SKU includes a 1-year NetCloud Branch 5G Adapter Essentials plan, and the W1855 is sold only as part of these packages. The plan provides NetCloud Manager device management and software updates for the full term. It also includes 24x7 support: 24-hour phone support on weekdays with emergency response on weekends, 24x7 web support and 24x5 chat. The hardware carries a limited lifetime warranty for as long as it holds an active NetCloud subscription. Captive modem mode lets you manage a Cradlepoint router and the W1855 as a single entity.
