Overview

The FortiGate Rugged 50G-5G is a fanless, DIN-rail next-generation firewall built for industrial and OT networks. It has an embedded 5G modem with two SIM slots and GPS, six GE RJ45 ports, two SFP slots and redundant 12V-54V DC inputs. The unit operates from -40°C to 75°C. This bundle (FGR-50G-5G-BDL-950-60) pairs the hardware with a 5-year FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection subscription.

The Fortinet FortiGate Rugged 50G-5G is a next-generation firewall for industrial networks and operational technology, where standard office appliances do not hold up. It combines FortiOS security, Secure SD-WAN and an embedded 5G wireless WAN in one fanless IP40 enclosure. The enclosure mounts on DIN rail and runs from -40°C to 75°C in 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity. It holds IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 certification for electric power substations and EN 50155 certification for rolling stock.

The FortiSP5 processor delivers up to 6 Gbps IPv4 firewall throughput, 5.3 Gbps IPsec VPN, 2.25 Gbps IPS, 1.25 Gbps NGFW and 1.1 Gbps threat protection. It supports 700,000 concurrent TCP sessions and 85,000 new sessions per second. The unit also supports up to 200 gateway-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, 250 client-to-gateway tunnels and five virtual domains.

The cellular WAN uses a Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP modem with two active/passive SIM slots and broad 5G NR and LTE band support. Four external SMA WWAN antennas and one external SMA GPS antenna are included. The modem is carrier-certified for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon and is FirstNet Capable (5G) and T-Priority supported.

On the wired side, the unit has four GE RJ45 LAN ports, two GE RJ45 WAN ports and two SFP slots. It also has an RJ45 data serial port, an RJ45 console port, USB-A 2.0, a digital I/O module, BLE and a TPM. The 5-year UTP term adds FortiCare Premium plus FortiGuard services: • IPS • Anti-malware with FortiGate Cloud Sandbox • URL, DNS and video filtering • Anti-spam • Application control • Inline CASB
