Overview

The Cradlepoint S450 is the wired-only version of the S400 platform. It is a cloud-managed, semi-ruggedized Cat 6 LTE router for IoT endpoints where Wi-Fi is not wanted. This TAA-compliant North America package includes a 3-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan, an AC power supply and antennas. It offers dual SIM slots, 300 Mbps peak LTE download, a Gigabit Ethernet port, GNSS, and an expansion slot for serial, GPIO or dual Fast Ethernet modules.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint S450 shares the compact, semi-ruggedized design of the S400 series but ships without Wi-Fi. That makes it a clean fit for IoT deployments where connected equipment is wired and a wireless access point would be unnecessary or unwelcome, such as kiosks, signage players, controllers and light industrial machines. Part number TAA-TBT3-0450-C6-NA-N is the TAA-compliant North America package, offered for U.S. Federal Government ordering. It includes a 3-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan, an AC power supply and antennas.

An embedded Cat 6 LTE modem (3GPP Rel. 11) delivers peak rates of 300 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. It uses 2x2 MIMO and downlink carrier aggregation, with two 4FF SIM slots and SIM-based auto-carrier selection. The North America modem supports LTE bands B2, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B29, B30, B66 and B71, plus TDD B41 and B48 with FCC Part 96 CBRS for private LTE. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are listed as network operator certifications. Wired devices connect through one Gigabit Ethernet port (LAN/WAN selectable), a USB 2.0 port, and an expansion slot for an RS232 DB-9 serial, dual Fast Ethernet or 20-pin GPIO module.

Without the Wi-Fi radio, the S450 draws less power: 2.9 W idle, 3.3 W typical and 4.6 W heavy. It runs from 9–33 VDC or 802.3af PoE and operates from -20 °C to 60 °C. It carries MIL-STD-810H shock and vibration testing plus Class I Div 2 and ATEX 2 certification.

The Essentials plan covers NetCloud Manager management and software updates for the full term, plus zero trust security and 24x7 support. It also provides a limited lifetime hardware warranty while the subscription remains active.
