Overview

The Fortinet FortiGate 51G-5G (FG-51G-5G-BDL-950-36) is a fanless desktop next-generation firewall with an embedded 5G modem. This bundle includes 36 months of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection. It runs firewalling, SD-WAN and network control on FortiOS. The hardware has five GE RJ45 ports, dual nano-SIM slots, five SMA antenna ports and 64 GB of SSD storage. It suits branch and distributed sites that want cellular WAN and inspected traffic on a three-year service cycle.

The Fortinet FortiGate 51G-5G is a compact desktop firewall for distributed enterprise sites, retail branches and remote offices where cellular is the primary or backup WAN. It runs FortiOS and combines firewalling, SD-WAN, network controller and security functions in one appliance. It is built on Fortinet's SD-WAN ASIC and an embedded multi-core processor. This SKU bundles the hardware with a 3-year (36-month) FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection term.

According to Fortinet, the appliance delivers up to 1.1 Gbps threat protection throughput, 1.25 Gbps NGFW throughput and 2.25 Gbps IPS throughput. It also rates up to 5 Gbps firewall throughput and 4.5 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput. It supports 200 gateway-to-gateway and 250 client-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, 720,000 concurrent sessions and Active-Active, Active-Passive or clustered high availability. From the same console it can manage up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 FortiAPs.

Cellular WAN comes from an embedded Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP 5G modem with two nano-SIM slots in active/passive mode. It covers 5G bands from n1 to n79 and LTE bands from B1 to B71. The modem is PTCRB, AT&T and Verizon certified and FirstNet capable, with T-Mobile certification targeted for Q4 26. Five SMA antenna ports support external WWAN antennas. A TPM, Bluetooth Low Energy, a signed firmware hardware switch and 64 GB SSD storage round out the hardware. The unit is fanless and draws 8.9 W maximum.

The three-year UTP term covers several services: • IPS with malicious and botnet URL blocking • Anti-malware protection, including AV, content disarm and reconstruct, and FortiGate Cloud Sandbox • URL, DNS and video filtering • Anti-spam • FortiCare Premium support
