Overview

The Fortinet FortiGate 51G-5G (FG-51G-5G) is a fanless desktop next-generation firewall. It combines firewall, SD-WAN, network controller and security with an embedded Telit Cinterion 5G modem. It has two nano SIM slots, five GE RJ45 ports, five external SMA antenna ports and 64 GB SSD onboard storage. It is built for distributed enterprise and branch locations.

The Fortinet FortiGate 51G-5G is a compact desktop firewall with an embedded 5G modem. It is built for branch offices, retail locations and distributed enterprise sites that want firewall, SD-WAN, network controller and cellular WAN in one appliance. The 51G-5G adds 64 GB of SSD onboard storage to the 50G-5G platform.

The unit runs FortiOS on Fortinet's SD-WAN-based ASIC with an embedded multi-core processor. Performance figures are all "up to" values: • Firewall throughput: up to 5 Gbps • IPS throughput: 2.25 Gbps • NGFW throughput: 1.25 Gbps • Threat Protection throughput: 1.1 Gbps • IPsec VPN throughput: 4.5 Gbps • Concurrent TCP sessions: 720,000 • Firewall policies: 2,000

The built-in network controller manages up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 FortiAPs. High availability is available in Active-Active, Active-Passive and Clustering modes.

Cellular WAN comes from a Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP modem with two nano SIM slots (active/passive) and five external SMA antenna ports. It covers a broad set of 5G NR and LTE bands and is listed for all regions. Its carrier certifications include PTCRB, AT&T and Verizon, and it is FirstNet capable. T-Mobile certification is targeted for Q4 26.

This SKU is the hardware appliance only; FortiGuard and FortiCare services are sold as separate bundles. The fanless chassis runs at 0 dBA, draws 8.3 W on average and measures 1.6 x 8.5 x 6.3 in. The FortiGate/FortiWiFi 50G Series Data Sheet and the 50G-5G QuickStart Guide are available.
