Overview

The Fortinet FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II combines a FortiGate next-generation firewall, SD-WAN, a dual-radio 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) access point and an embedded Telit Cinterion 5G modem in one desktop appliance. This bundle (region code A) pairs the hardware with a 5-year (60-month) FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection subscription covering IPS, anti-malware, URL/DNS/video filtering, application control, inline CASB and anti-spam, making it a complete security platform for branch offices and distributed sites.

The FortiWiFi 50G-5G-II is a branch security appliance that brings firewalling, SD-WAN, network control and wireless access together on FortiOS, Fortinet's converged networking and security operating system. It is built for distributed enterprise sites, retail locations and small offices that need enterprise-grade protection and a cellular WAN link without a stack of separate devices. This SKU includes the hardware plus a 5-year FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP) term, ordered under region code A.

The 50G family runs on Fortinet's patented SD-WAN ASIC, delivering up to 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 4.5 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput, 1.25 Gbps NGFW and 1.1 Gbps threat protection throughput with logging enabled. It supports 720,000 concurrent TCP sessions, 200 gateway-to-gateway and 250 client-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, and can manage up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 FortiAPs. SD-WAN and the network controller are included in every FortiGate appliance at no extra cost.

Cellular connectivity comes from an embedded Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP 5G modem with two nano SIM slots (active/passive), broad 5G NR and LTE band coverage, and PC1.5 support on n41, n77, n78 and n79. Fortinet lists PTCRB, AT&T and Verizon certification and FirstNet capability for the modem. Local networking includes five GE RJ45 ports (one WAN, three internal, one FortiLink), a dual-radio 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 interface, Bluetooth Low Energy, a TPM and a signed-firmware hardware switch.

The bundled FortiGuard UTP services add IPS with malicious/botnet URL blocking, anti-malware protection including FortiGate Cloud Sandbox and content disarm and reconstruct, URL, DNS and video filtering, application control, inline CASB and anti-spam, backed by FortiCare Premium support for the full term.
