Overview

The Cradlepoint R2155 (MB01-2155-5GB-GA) is an exterior-mounted 5G ruggedized router. It combines a 5G NR and Cat 20 LTE modem, four internal cellular antennas and the router in one IP67, IK09-rated polycarbonate housing built for vehicle roofs and IoT cabinets. This non-Wi-Fi configuration comes with a 1-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan. The SIM and AC power supply are not included.

The Cradlepoint R2155 is the non-Wi-Fi model of the Ericsson Cradlepoint R2100 Series 5G ruggedized router, designed for mass transit, public safety and IoT deployments. It mounts on the roof of a vehicle or on an IoT cabinet enclosure. Because the modem, antennas and router sit together in one aerodynamic housing, the install needs no coax cable runs. Power comes over the non-removable 9–36 VDC cable with ignition sensing, or over 802.3at PoE through its single 2.5 GbE port.

The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in both NSA and SA modes, falls back to LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, and has dual 4FF SIM slots. It is rated for peak rates of up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink with 4x4 MIMO. The modem carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon certifications, plus FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified for public safety. It also supports private cellular networks, including CBRS Band 48. Passive GNSS feeds automatic vehicle location and coverage mapping.

The R2155 can run as a self-contained 5G router. It can also serve as a captive 5G modem for a supported Cradlepoint controlling router, where NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem that needs no separate licence. For edge workloads, a quad-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containerized applications. The unit is rated to 900 Mbps stateful firewall throughput, 10 concurrent VPN tunnels and about 100 typical clients.

The 1-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan covers the following for the full term: • NetCloud Manager cloud management • Software and firmware updates • 24x7 support • Enterprise Wireless University access • A limited lifetime hardware warranty that runs while the subscription is active

A NetCloud Advanced licence can be added at any time. The package is offered for all regions, and the R2100 datasheet is available.

Questions buyers ask

Does the R2155 have Wi-Fi?

No. The R2155 is the non-Wi-Fi model in the R2100 Series. Its single 2.5 GbE port connects to a router, switch or other wired equipment. The R2105 is the Wi-Fi 6 version.

How is the R2155 powered?

It runs from a 9–36 VDC supply through its non-removable cable with ignition sensing. It can also be powered by 802.3at PoE (30 W) over its Ethernet port. An AC power supply is not included.

Can I use it with a router I already have?

Yes. With supported Cradlepoint controlling routers, the R2155 can act as a captive 5G modem. NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem, so no separate licence is needed.

Is a SIM card included?

No. The unit has dual 4FF SIM slots, and the SIM is optional and not included.

What does the 1-year Essentials plan include?
