Overview

The Cradlepoint R2155 is the non-Wi-Fi model of the Ericsson Cradlepoint R2100 5G ruggedized router. It combines the modem, four internal cellular antennas and the router in one IP67, exterior-mounted housing for vehicle and IoT deployments. This TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government SKU includes a 5-year Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced subscription. It supports 5G FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Category 20 with peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down, and it can run from 9–36 VDC or 802.3at PoE with no coax runs.

The Cradlepoint R2155 is built for mass transit, public safety and other organizations that need 5G on vehicles or IoT cabinet enclosures. It belongs to the Ericsson Cradlepoint R2100 series and is the configuration without Wi-Fi. The modem, antennas and router share a single aerodynamic, ruggedized housing that mounts on a vehicle roof or an enclosure, so the unit needs no coax cabling. The housing is rated IP67, carries IK09 impact protection and IEC60068-2-11 salt-mist corrosion resistance, and is tested to MIL-STD-810G for shock and vibration. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C.

The embedded modem supports 5G FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, with 4x4 MIMO, dual 4FF SIM slots and peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. It holds AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon operator certifications. For public safety networks it is FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified. It also supports CBRS Band 48 private cellular. Passive GNSS shares the internal cellular antennas and feeds Automatic Vehicle Location systems.

You can deploy the R2155 in two ways. It can run as a self-contained router through its 2.5 GbE LAN port, or as a captive 5G modem behind a supported Ericsson Cradlepoint controlling router. In captive mode, NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem, so it needs no separate license. Power comes from a 9–36 VDC cable with ignition sensing or from 802.3at PoE.

The included 5-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced subscription covers the following: • NetCloud Manager cloud management and all software and firmware updates. • 24x7 support and access to Enterprise Wireless University. • A limited lifetime warranty for as long as the subscription is active. • Advanced coverage mapping, which combines GNSS location with 5G/LTE signal health.

This package does not include a SIM card or an AC power supply.

Questions buyers ask

Does the R2155 include Wi-Fi?

No. The R2155 is the R2100-series configuration without Wi-Fi. It connects clients through its 2.5 GbE RJ45 LAN port, or it can act as a captive 5G modem for a supported Ericsson Cradlepoint router. The Wi-Fi 6 version of the R2100 is the R2105.

How is the R2155 powered?

It accepts 9–36 VDC through its 380 mm Molex micro-fit power cable, with ignition sensing for automatic on and time-delay off. It can also be powered over Ethernet from an 802.3at PSE Type 2 (30 W) source. An AC power supply is not included.

Is a SIM card included?

No. The router has dual 4FF SIM slots, but a SIM is not included with this SKU.

What does the 5-year Essentials + Advanced subscription cover?

The subscription runs for the full 5-year term and covers the following: • NetCloud Manager cloud management. • All software and firmware updates. • 24x7 support (phone 24-hour weekdays with weekend emergency response, web 24x7, chat 24x5). • Enterprise Wireless University access. • A limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active. The Advanced plan adds capabilities such as GNSS-based coverage mapping.

Is this SKU FIPS certified?

No. This is a TAA-compliant, non-FIPS SKU for U.S. Federal Government ordering. FIPS 140-3 Level 1 applies only to R2100 FIPS models, and that module is listed as in process.
