Overview

The Cradlepoint R2155 is the no-Wi-Fi model of the R2100 Series 5G ruggedized router. It is built to mount on a vehicle roof or IoT enclosure, with a 5G NR / Cat 20 LTE modem and four internal cellular antennas in an IP67, IK09 housing. It connects to onboard equipment through a 2.5 GbE port. This TAA-compliant SKU for U.S. Federal Government ordering includes a 1-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan and runs from 9–36 VDC or 802.3at PoE.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2155 is the R2100 Series 5G ruggedized router configured without Wi-Fi. It fits deployments where wireless LAN is already handled elsewhere, or where Wi-Fi is not wanted. It mounts on a vehicle roof or attaches to an IoT cabinet enclosure. The modem, antennas and router sit in a single aerodynamic polycarbonate housing rated IP67 and IK09, so no antenna coax cables are needed. This part number (TAA-MB01-2155-5GB-GA) is the TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government ordering option and bundles the router with a 1-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan.

The embedded 5G NR FR1 (NSA/SA) and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 modem supports 4x4 MIMO, dual 4FF SIM slots and peak rates of up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. It also supports CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. It carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications, and it is FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified. A single 2.5 GbE LAN port delivers the connection to in-vehicle or in-cabinet equipment.

A common role for the R2155 is a captive 5G modem for supported Cradlepoint controlling routers. In that role NetCloud Manager manages both devices as one entity and treats the R2155 as an internal modem, so it needs no separate license. PoE power lets a single Ethernet run carry both power and data. Passive GNSS supports Automatic Vehicle Location, and ignition sensing handles power-on and delayed shutdown. Without Wi-Fi, typical power draw is 10 W.

The Essentials plan covers NetCloud Manager, software updates, 24x7 support and Enterprise Wireless University access for the full term.
