Overview

The Cradlepoint R2155 is the non-Wi-Fi model of the R2100 5G ruggedized router series. It combines a 5G NR and Cat 20 LTE modem, internal antennas and a router in one housing built for a vehicle roof or IoT cabinet. This TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government SKU (TAA-MB03-2155-5GB-GA) includes a 3-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan. It connects over a single 2.5 GbE cable, powered by PoE or 9–36 VDC. It is well suited to adding 5G to an existing Cradlepoint router as a captive modem.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2155 is the R2100 series 5G ruggedized router without Wi-Fi. It suits deployments where local wireless comes from another device, or where the job is simply to deliver a strong 5G WAN link over Ethernet. The modem, four internal cellular antennas and router sit in a single aerodynamic polycarbonate housing. That housing is designed for vehicle roofs and IoT cabinets, and is rated IP67, IK09 impact protected, and tested for salt mist corrosion. Part number TAA-MB03-2155-5GB-GA is the TAA-compliant ordering option for the United States Federal Government. It bundles the hardware with a 3-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan. A SIM card and AC power supply are not included.

The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in NSA and SA modes and LTE Advanced Pro Cat 20, with peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. It has 4x4 MIMO and dual 4FF SIM slots. Certifications include AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, plus FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified, and it supports CBRS Band 48.

The R2155 is a strong fit for captive modem use. Paired with a supported Cradlepoint controlling router, it adds 5G to an existing installation and is managed in NetCloud Manager as a single entity, with no separate license. A single 2.5 GbE LAN port on a non-removable 380 mm shielded flat cable carries data. Power comes from 802.3at PoE or 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing. Typical draw is 10 W, lower than the Wi-Fi model. Passive GNSS supports AVL integration, and the unit operates from -30 °C to 70 °C.

The Essentials plan includes NetCloud Manager, software updates and 24x7 support for the full term, with a limited lifetime warranty while the plan is active. The R2100 data sheet is available.

Does the R2155 have Wi-Fi?

No. The R2155 is the R2100 series model without Wi-Fi. The R2105 is the equivalent model with dual-band Wi-Fi 6.

Can the R2155 add 5G to my existing Cradlepoint router?
