Overview

The Cradlepoint S400 is a cloud-managed, semi-ruggedized LTE router for IoT networks in light industrial, digital signage and kiosk deployments. This TAA-compliant North America package pairs the router with a 3-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan and includes an AC power supply and antennas. It has an embedded Cat 6 LTE modem with dual SIM slots and 300 Mbps peak download, plus single-radio dual-band Wi-Fi 5, a Gigabit Ethernet port, GNSS positioning, and an expansion slot for serial, GPIO or extra Ethernet modules.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint S400 is a compact, semi-ruggedized router and secure appliance built for IoT endpoints: kiosks, digital signage, light industrial equipment and portable assets. Part number TAA-TBT3-0400-C6-NA-N is the TAA-compliant North America package, offered for U.S. Federal Government ordering. It bundles the router with a 3-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan, an AC power supply and antennas.

Connectivity comes from an embedded Cat 6 LTE modem (3GPP Rel. 11) with 2x2 MIMO, downlink carrier aggregation and peak rates of 300 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. Two 4FF SIM slots support SIM-based auto-carrier selection. The North America modem covers LTE bands B2, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B29, B30, B66 and B71, plus TDD B41 and B48. B48 support includes FCC Part 96 CBRS for private LTE. The datasheet lists network operator certifications for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. On the local side, the S400 provides one Gigabit Ethernet port (LAN/WAN selectable) and 1x1 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 that runs on either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. There is also a USB 2.0 port and an expansion slot for an RS232 DB-9 serial, dual Fast Ethernet or 20-pin GPIO module.

The hardware is sized for the edge. It operates from -20 °C to 60 °C and is tested to MIL-STD-810H shock and vibration methods. It carries Class I Div 2 and ATEX 2 hazardous-location certifications. Power comes from 9–33 VDC with reverse-polarity and transient protection, or from 802.3af PoE. Typical draw is 4.1 W.

The Essentials plan provides NetCloud Manager for management, group policies and software updates across the full term, plus connect-and-go zero trust security. It also includes 24x7 support and a limited lifetime hardware warranty for as long as an active NetCloud subscription is maintained. A NetCloud IoT Advanced Plan can be added at any time.
