Overview

The FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G is a fanless, DIN-rail next-generation firewall for industrial and OT networks. It has an embedded 5G modem with two SIM slots, passive GPS, six GE RJ45 ports, two SFP slots and a bypass port pair. It runs from -40°C to 75°C on redundant 12V-125V DC inputs. This SKU, FGR-70G-5G-BDL-809-60, bundles the hardware with a 5-year (60-month) term of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Enterprise Protection for long-life infrastructure deployments.

The FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G is a next-generation firewall built for industrial networks and operational technology, where heat, cold, vibration and electrical noise rule out office-grade equipment. It is fanless, mounts on DIN rail and carries power, rail and maritime certifications. SKU FGR-70G-5G-BDL-809-60 pairs the hardware with a 5-year (60-month) FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Enterprise Protection subscription. That term suits sites planned on long refresh cycles.

For connectivity, the unit uses an embedded Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP 5G modem. It has two SIM slots (active/passive), four external SMA WWAN antennas and passive GPS with its own external SMA antenna. The modem covers 5G NR bands n2, n5, n41, n66, n71 and n77, among many others, with broad LTE fallback. It is PTCRB, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon certified and FirstNet Capable (5G). Wired interfaces are 4x GE RJ45 LAN, 2x GE RJ45 WAN, a GE bypass pair between PORT1 and PORT2, and 2x SFP slots. Management and field I/O come from RJ45 serial and console ports, USB-A 2.0, a microSD slot, a digital I/O module, Bluetooth Low Energy and a TPM.

The FortiSP5 secure processor and FortiOS deliver the following up-to figures: - 8 Gbps firewall throughput - 7.1 Gbps IPsec VPN - 2.5 Gbps IPS - 1.5 Gbps NGFW - 1.3 Gbps threat protection - 1.4 million concurrent sessions

The unit operates from -40°C to 75°C, at 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity and up to 3048 m. It is IP40-rated for indoor enclosures and draws 16 W on average. Certifications include IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, EN 50155 and IEC 60945 with DNV Type Approval. The Enterprise Protection bundle adds IPS, anti-malware with FortiGate Cloud Sandbox, URL/DNS/video filtering, DLP, application control, inline CASB, IoT device detection with virtual patching, and anti-spam.
