Fortinet FortiGate 50G-5G Firewall with Embedded 5G Modem and 5-Year Enterprise Protection Bundle

The FortiGate 50G-5G is a compact branch firewall for distributed enterprise sites that need cellular WAN built in. It runs FortiOS, Fortinet's converged networking and security operating system. Firewalling, SD-WAN and a network controller come in every unit, and Fortinet's SD-WAN ASIC accelerates traffic. Rated performance reaches 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 4.5 Gbps IPsec VPN, 2.25 Gbps IPS, 1.25 Gbps NGFW and 1.1 Gbps threat protection. The appliance supports 720,000 concurrent sessions and 85,000 new sessions per second.

The embedded Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP modem covers 5G NR bands n1 through n79, including n41, n71 and n77, plus a broad LTE band set. It has two nano SIM slots (active/passive) and five SMA antenna ports. Fortinet lists PTCRB, AT&T and Verizon certification, FirstNet capability and T-Mobile certification targeted for Q4 2026. The modem can serve as a primary 5G WAN or as a failover link alongside the Gigabit Ethernet WAN port.

On the LAN side, the 50G-5G has three hardware-accelerated GE RJ45 ports, one GE FortiLink port, USB, and an RJ45 console port. It manages up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 FortiAPs (8 in tunnel mode). A TPM, a signed-firmware hardware switch and Bluetooth Low Energy are built in. The fanless 0 dBA chassis draws 8.3 W on average and measures 1.6 x 8.5 x 6.3 inches.

This SKU includes 60 months of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Enterprise Protection. The term covers IPS, anti-malware with FortiGate Cloud Sandbox, URL, DNS and video filtering, anti-spam, AI-based inline malware prevention, data loss prevention, attack surface security and one-time FortiConverter configuration conversion.
