Overview

The FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G-DUAL is a fanless, DIN-rail next-generation firewall built for industrial and OT networks. It uses two embedded Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP 5G modules, two Active/Active SIM slots and passive GPS. It has 6 GE RJ45 ports with a bypass pair, 2 SFP slots and redundant 12V to 125V DC inputs. It operates from -40°C to 75°C. This bundle includes 1 year (12 months) of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP).

The FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G-DUAL is Fortinet's industrially rugged next-generation firewall for operational technology, utilities, transportation and other sites where office-grade appliances fail. It has a fanless, IP40, DIN-rail enclosure and runs from -40°F to 167°F (-40°C to 75°C). The appliance is certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for the electric power industry and to EN 50155 for rolling stock. It also carries IEC 60945 and DNV Type Approval for maritime use.

Connectivity is designed for sites where a wired WAN is unavailable or unreliable. Two embedded 5G modules connect through two Active/Active SIM slots. The package includes eight external SMA WWAN antennas and one external SMA GPS antenna for passive GPS. The modems cover 5G bands n1 through n79, including n41, n71 and n77, plus a broad set of LTE bands. They are PTCRB, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon certified. The unit is FirstNet Capable (5G) and supports T-Mobile T-Priority and Verizon Frontline. Wired connections include 4 GE RJ45 LAN ports, 2 GE RJ45 WAN ports, a bypass pair between PORT1 and PORT2, 2 SFP slots, RJ45 serial and console ports, USB-A 2.0, a MicroSD slot and a digital I/O module.

The FortiSP5 secure processor and FortiOS deliver up to 8 Gbps IPv4 firewall throughput and 7.1 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput. Threat protection throughput reaches up to 1.3 Gbps. Built-in Secure SD-WAN, BLE, TPM and Active-Active, Active-Passive or clustered high availability are included.

This SKU combines the hardware with a 12-month FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard UTP term. That term covers IPS, anti-malware with FortiGate Cloud Sandbox, URL/DNS/video filtering, anti-spam, application control and inline CASB. The FortiGate Rugged Series Data Sheet and the 70G-5G-DUAL QuickStart Guide document the platform. Power comes from redundant 12V to 125V DC inputs, and DC cables are not included.
