Overview

The Fortinet FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G-DUAL (FGR-70G-5G-DUAL) is a fanless, DIN-rail next-generation firewall for industrial and OT networks. It pairs two embedded 5G modems and Active/Active dual SIM slots with the FortiSP5 processor, which delivers up to 8 Gbps firewall and 7.1 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput. It also offers 6 GE RJ45 ports, 2 SFP slots, passive GPS and redundant 12V to 125V DC inputs, and it is rated for -40°C to 75°C in an IP40 enclosure.

The FortiGate Rugged 70G-5G-DUAL is Fortinet's industrially hardened next-generation firewall for substations, rail, maritime, utility and other operational technology sites where office-grade security appliances will not survive. The fanless IP40 chassis mounts on a DIN rail and operates from -40°C to 75°C (-40°F to 167°F) at up to 10,000 ft. It is certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for the electric power industry, EN 50155 for rolling stock, and IEC 60945 with DNV Type Approval for maritime use.

Cellular connectivity comes from two embedded 5G modems based on the Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP, with 2 SIM slots running Active/Active and 8 external SMA WWAN antennas. Band support covers 5G NR from n1 to n79, including n41, n71, n77 and n78, plus broad LTE and UMTS coverage. The unit carries PTCRB, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon carrier certifications. It is FirstNet Capable (5G) and supports T-Mobile T-Priority and Verizon Frontline. Passive GPS with an included external SMA antenna provides location data.

Fortinet's FortiSP5 processor and FortiOS deliver up to 8 Gbps IPv4 firewall throughput, 7.1 Gbps IPsec VPN, 2.5 Gbps IPS, 1.5 Gbps NGFW and 1.3 Gbps threat protection, with 1.4 million concurrent sessions. Built-in Secure SD-WAN manages wired and cellular links together, and FortiGuard AI-powered security services add consolidated protection.

Wired interfaces include 6 GE RJ45 ports with a hardware bypass pair on PORT1-PORT2, 2 SFP slots, RJ45 serial and console ports, USB-A 2.0 and a MicroSD slot. The unit also provides Bluetooth Low Energy, a TPM and a digital I/O module. Redundant 12V to 125V DC inputs accept negative or positive ground; DC cables are not included.
