Overview

The Cradlepoint R1900 (TAA-MBA1-19005GB-FA) is a ruggedized in-vehicle 5G router. This SKU is the TAA-compliant FIPS variant, offered as a U.S. Federal Government ordering option, and includes 1 year of NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced. The router has an embedded 5G NR FR1 modem with Cat 20 LTE fallback, dual SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, four switchable GbE ports, and discrete GNSS with dead reckoning. It runs on 9–36 VDC vehicle power and carries an IP64 rating. It ships without an AC power supply, antennas or SIM.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R1900 is a ruggedized 5G networking platform for in-vehicle deployments. Typical users include public safety fleets, transit and rail operators, utilities and field forces that need persistent connectivity on the move. This part number (TAA-MBA1-19005GB-FA) is the TAA-compliant FIPS SKU for U.S. Federal Government ordering. It bundles 1 year of NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced.

The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in both NSA and SA modes. It has 4x4 MIMO, peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up, and it falls back to LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 when the vehicle leaves 5G coverage. Two 4FF SIM slots support carrier selection. For simultaneous dual-carrier connectivity, the optional RX30-MC adds a second modular modem and four more GbE ports. The optional RX30-POE instead adds four 802.3bt PoE ports.

On the local side, the R1900 provides: • Dual-concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 • Four LAN/WAN-switchable GbE ports • Bluetooth LE 5.2 • USB 2.0, RS-232 serial and GPIO

For automatic vehicle location systems, it adds discrete GNSS with dead reckoning across GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou. A quad-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containerized applications at the edge.

The chassis is built for harsh environments. It has an IP64 rating, a -30 °C to 75 °C operating range and ignition sensing. Certifications include E-Mark, SAE J1455, MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration, EN 50155, NFPA 130 and Class I Div 2. On this model, the FIPS 140-3 Level 1 module is in process.

The Essentials package includes NetCloud Manager for management and software updates, plus 24x7 support. The Advanced plan adds threat management, web filtering, application visibility, analytics, location tracking and cellular coverage maps. The hardware carries a limited lifetime warranty while it is covered by an active NetCloud subscription.
