Overview

The Cradlepoint TAA-MBA5-19005GB-FA pairs the ruggedized R1900 5G in-vehicle router with 5 years of Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials and Advanced plans. This is the TAA-compliant FIPS variant for U.S. Federal Government ordering. It has an embedded 5G NR FR1 and Cat 20 LTE modem, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, four switchable GbE ports, discrete GNSS with dead reckoning and IP64 metal construction. It ships without SIM, AC power supply or antennas.

The Cradlepoint R1900 is a ruggedized 5G networking platform built for persistent in-vehicle connectivity. This part number, TAA-MBA5-19005GB-FA, is the TAA-compliant FIPS SKU for U.S. Federal Government buyers. It bundles the router with a 5-year Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials package plus the Advanced Plan. Essentials covers cloud management through NetCloud Manager, software updates and 24x7 support for the full term. The Advanced Plan adds threat management, web filtering, application visibility, analytics, location tracking and cellular coverage maps.

The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in NSA and SA modes. When a vehicle leaves 5G coverage, it falls back to LTE Advanced Pro Category 20. It offers dual 4FF SIM slots, 4x4 MIMO and peak rates of up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. Band support includes n41, n71, n77 and CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. The modem carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon certifications, plus FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified public safety certifications.

For on-board connectivity, the router provides dual-band, dual-concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and four GbE ports that switch between LAN and WAN. It also includes Bluetooth LE 5.2, a USB 2.0 port, an RS-232 serial port and an 8-pin GPIO connector. The optional RX30 accessories expand the platform in one of two ways: • RX30-PoE adds four 802.3bt PoE ports. • RX30-MC adds four GbE ports and a second modem for dual-carrier operation.

The GNSS receiver tracks GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou concurrently with dead reckoning, which supports AVL integration. A quad-core ARMv8 CPU runs Docker containerized applications at the edge.

The router is built for harsh environments. It is rated IP64 and operates from -30 °C to 75 °C on a 9–36 VDC supply, with ignition sensing and ISO 7637-2 transient protection.
