Overview

The Cradlepoint R2105 is an exterior-mounted 5G ruggedized router for vehicles and IoT enclosures. It combines an embedded 5G NR FR1 and LTE Category 20 modem, four internal cellular antennas and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 in one IP67, IK09-rated housing. This TAA-compliant SKU (TAA-MB05-2105-5GB-GA) is the U.S. Federal Government ordering option. It bundles the hardware with a 5-year Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials plan covering cloud management, software updates, 24x7 support and a limited lifetime warranty. It ships without an AC power supply or SIM.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2105 is a 5G ruggedized router built to mount on the roof of a vehicle or attach to an IoT cabinet. The modem, antennas and Wi-Fi 6 router sit in one aerodynamic polycarbonate housing, so there are no coax runs. You connect a single DC power cable with ignition sensing, or power it over Ethernet with 802.3at PoE. This part number is the TAA-compliant configuration for U.S. Federal Government procurement. It pairs the R2105 with a 5-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials subscription.

The embedded 5G FR1 NSA/SA modem supports LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, 4x4 MIMO and dual 4FF SIM slots. It is rated for peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. On the network side, the R2105 delivers 900 Mbps stateful firewall throughput, 300 Mbps IPsec VPN throughput and 10 concurrent VPN tunnels, with a typical load of 100 clients. It also supports FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified public safety programs, plus CBRS Band 48 private cellular. Passive GNSS feeds Automatic Vehicle Location systems.

The R2105 can run as a self-contained router. It can also serve as a captive 5G modem for a supported Cradlepoint controlling router, where NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem and no separate license is needed. Its rugged build carries IP67, IK09, MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration, E-Mark and SAE J1455 ratings. A quad-core ARMv8 processor runs Docker containerized applications at the edge.

The Essentials plan includes NetCloud Manager device management and software updates for the full 5-year term. Support runs 24x7 on the web, 24x5 by chat and 24 hours on weekdays by phone, with weekend emergency response. The plan also covers a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active and access to Enterprise Wireless University. NetCloud Advanced can be added at any time for features such as coverage mapping.
