Overview

The Cradlepoint R2105 (TAA-MBA1-2105-5GB-GA) is a 5G router that mounts on a vehicle roof or IoT enclosure. It combines the modem, antennas and Wi-Fi 6 router in one IP67, IK09 polycarbonate housing. This TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government SKU includes a 1-year Ericsson NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced plan. It has a 5G NR and Cat 20 LTE modem with 4x4 MIMO, dual 4FF SIM slots, a 2.5 GbE port and passive GNSS. It can be powered by 802.3at PoE or 9–36 VDC. A SIM and an AC power supply are not included.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2105 is the Wi-Fi 6 model in the R2100 series of 5G ruggedized routers. It is built for vehicle and IoT deployments. The modem, four internal cellular antennas and the router sit in a single aerodynamic housing that mounts on a vehicle roof or an IoT cabinet enclosure. Because the antennas are integrated, there are no coax cable runs or cable signal loss. Mass transit, public safety and field organizations can install it with one power cable or with Power over Ethernet. This SKU (TAA-MBA1-2105-5GB-GA) is the TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government ordering option. It includes a 1-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials + Advanced plan. It comes with integrated antennas, while the 4FF SIM and AC power supply are not included.

The embedded modem supports 5G FR1 in NSA and SA modes and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20. It has 4x4 MIMO, dual SIM slots and peak rates of up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. It is FirstNet Trusted, Verizon Frontline Verified and T-Mobile Connecting Heroes certified, and it supports CBRS Band 48 private networks. The R2105 can serve as a standalone router with 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and a 2.5 GbE LAN port. It can also run as a captive 5G modem for a supported Cradlepoint controlling router, where NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem that needs no separate license.

The housing is rated IP67 for immersion up to 1 meter and IK09 for impact. It resists salt-mist corrosion, carries MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration certification, and operates from -30 °C to 70 °C with ignition sensing. The Essentials package includes NetCloud Manager management, software updates, 24x7 support and a limited lifetime warranty for the term. The Advanced plan uses GNSS and cellular health data to map vehicle locations and cellular coverage.
