Overview

The Cradlepoint R2105 is an exterior-mounted 5G ruggedized router for vehicles and IoT enclosures. It combines an embedded 5G NR FR1 and Cat 20 LTE modem, four internal cellular antennas, passive GNSS and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 in one IP67, IK09 polycarbonate housing. This TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government SKU bundles the router with a 3-year NetCloud Ruggedized IoT Essentials plan covering cloud management, software updates and 24x7 support. It runs on 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing or on 802.3at PoE. A SIM and AC power supply are not included.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2105 is the Wi-Fi-equipped model in the R2100 series, a 5G ruggedized router built to mount on a vehicle roof or attach to an IoT cabinet enclosure. It targets mass transit, public safety and other organizations that need current cellular performance without coax runs. The modem, antennas and router share one aerodynamic IP67 housing rated IK09 for impact, MIL-STD-810G for shock and vibration, and -30 °C to 70 °C for operation.

The embedded 5G NR FR1 modem supports NSA and SA networks with LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 fallback, 4x4 MIMO, dual 4FF SIM slots and peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. It carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon certifications, FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified status, and CBRS Band 48 support for private cellular networks. Dual-band 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 serves local clients, and a 2.5 GbE LAN port on a flat, non-removable cable connects wired equipment.

The R2105 can run as a self-contained 5G router or be installed as a captive modem for a supported Cradlepoint controlling router. In that role NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem with no separate license, and on select routers it can also add Wi-Fi coverage for tasks such as video offload. Power comes from a 9–36 VDC input with ignition sensing or from a single 802.3at PoE connection. A quad-core ARMv8 CPU with up to 1.8 GB memory and 8 GB flash runs Docker containerized applications at the edge.

This part number includes a 3-year NetCloud Ruggedized IoT Essentials plan: NetCloud Manager device management and software updates for the full term, 24x7 support, access to Enterprise Wireless University, and a limited lifetime hardware warranty while the subscription is active. NetCloud Advanced can be added at any time.

Does this bundle include a SIM card or power supply?

No. The router has dual 4FF SIM slots, but a SIM is not included, and there is no AC power supply. It runs from a 9–36 VDC vehicle or site supply through its Molex micro-fit cable, or from an 802.3at PoE Type 2 (30 W) source.

Can the R2105 work with a router I already have?

Yes. Besides running as a standalone 5G router, it can serve as a captive modem for supported Cradlepoint controlling routers. NetCloud Manager then manages both as one device, and the R2105 needs no separate license in that role. On select routers it can also provide additional Wi-Fi coverage.

What does the 3-year Ruggedized IoT Essentials plan include?
