Overview

The Cradlepoint R2105 (TAA-TCA3-2105-5GB-GA) is an exterior-mounted 5G ruggedized router for vehicle and IoT deployments. It combines a 5G NR FR1 and LTE Category 20 modem, four internal cellular antennas, and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 in one IP67, IK09 polycarbonate housing. This TAA-compliant SKU is a U.S. Federal Government ordering option and includes 3-year NetCloud Ruggedized IoT Essentials and Advanced plans. You can run it as a standalone router or as a 5G captive modem for a supported Cradlepoint controlling router. The package does not include a SIM or an AC power supply.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2105 is the Wi-Fi 6 model of the R2100 5G ruggedized router. It is built to mount on a vehicle roof or an IoT cabinet enclosure, and it integrates the modem, antennas and router in one aerodynamic housing, so no coax runs are needed. The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in NSA and SA modes plus LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, with peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink, 4x4 MIMO, and dual 4FF SIM slots. It also supports private cellular, including CBRS Band 48. The modem is certified for FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified public safety networks.

The R2105 is built for exterior mounting. The housing is rated IP67 and IK09, is tested for salt-mist corrosion resistance, and meets MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration requirements. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. Power comes from 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing or from 802.3at PoE through a single 2.5 GbE port. The router can serve up to 100 typical clients over 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and delivers 900 Mbps stateful firewall throughput. A quad-core ARMv8 processor runs Docker containerized applications at the edge, and passive GNSS feeds Automatic Vehicle Location systems.

This TAA-compliant part number bundles the hardware with 3-year NetCloud Ruggedized IoT Essentials and Advanced plans. Essentials includes NetCloud Manager for cloud management and software updates, 24x7 support, access to Enterprise Wireless University, and a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active. Advanced adds capabilities such as cellular coverage mapping and location analytics. When deployed as a captive modem, the R2105 is managed as an internal modem of the controlling router and does not need a separate licence. A SIM and AC power supply are not included.
