Overview

The Cradlepoint R2105 is the Wi-Fi 6 model of the R2100 ruggedized 5G router, designed to mount on a vehicle roof or IoT enclosure. It combines modem, antennas and router in one IP67, IK09 housing. This TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government SKU (TAA-MBA3-2105-5GB-GA) includes 3-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials and Advanced plans. It has a 5G NR / Cat 20 LTE modem, dual 4FF SIM slots, passive GNSS and one 2.5 GbE port, and accepts DC or 802.3at PoE power. A SIM card and AC power supply are not included.

The Cradlepoint R2105 puts a 5G modem, four internal cellular antennas and a Wi-Fi 6 router into one aerodynamic, exterior-mounted housing. Mass transit, public safety and IoT teams can install it on a vehicle roof or cabinet enclosure with no coax runs and no antenna cable loss. Part number TAA-MBA3-2105-5GB-GA is the TAA-compliant U.S. Federal Government ordering option. It includes 3-year NetCloud Mobile Performance Essentials and Advanced plans.

The embedded modem supports 5G NR FR1 in NSA and SA modes, with LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, 4x4 MIMO and peak rates up to 4.14 Gbps down and 660 Mbps up. It has dual 4FF SIM slots and CBRS Band 48 support for private networks. Carrier certifications cover AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, and public safety certifications include FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified. Dual-band 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 serves nearby clients. A 380 mm flat 2.5 GbE cable connects to in-vehicle equipment.

The R2105 can run as a self-contained router, or as a captive 5G modem behind a supported Cradlepoint router. In captive mode, NetCloud Manager treats it as an internal modem, with no separate licence. With select controlling routers, it can also add Wi-Fi coverage for tasks such as video offload. Power comes from 9–36 VDC with ignition sensing, or from 802.3at PoE.

The housing is rated IP67 and IK09, resists salt-mist corrosion and meets MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration requirements. The 3-year plans include NetCloud Manager, software updates, 24x7 support and a limited lifetime warranty while the subscription is active. No. The router has dual 4FF SIM slots, but no SIM card is included, and no AC power supply is included. It runs on 9–36 VDC through its 380 mm cable, or on 802.3at PoE.
